Race To Zero – Time for climate change, courage, and commitment!

We are very pleased to join the United Nations’ climate change campaign in the ‘Race to Zero’ to reach net-zero GHGs.

To avoid the worst climate impacts, global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions will need to drop by half by 2030 and reach net-zero around mid-century. Recognizing this urgency, we’ve signed a pledge to become a signatory of the UN’s ‘Race to Zero’ campaign.

By doing so, we’re committed to set a target to achieve a 50% global reduction in CO2 and in line with global efforts, to limit warming to 1.5C  by 2030.

Race To Zero is a global campaign for a healthy, resilient, zero-carbon recovery that prevents future threats, creates decent jobs, and unlocks inclusive, sustainable growth. 

Hundreds of Universities and Colleges across the world have signed up to the United Nations Framework Convention of Climate Change’s (UNFCCC) ‘Race to Zero’ global movement.

Given the significance of climate change to the local economy and wider community, we focus on creating a sustainable, healthy, and resilient future at our University.

Climate change is extremely important, and the adaptation and resilience to its effects are too necessary, to be left to the government alone.
Hence, over the coming months, we will be establishing a working group for sustainability to encourage input from across the University in supporting the ‘Race to Zero.’ 

By joining this campaign, we’re committed to sustainable and resilient recovery after Covid-19, supporting the goal of net-zero global emissions by 2050.

Apart from this, we are also a member of the prestigious Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME-UN) and Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges (EAUC) supporting sustainability.
